The Project by Syed Talat Hussain

Let us call it The Project. Since its launch over three-and-a-half decades ago, it has taken many forms and has gone through many stages. In the beginning, it was aimed at dividing the vast constituency of the Pakistan People’s Party by trimming its strength in the urban areas of Sindh. It also served an important secondary purpose: to wean away the Urdu-speaking population from the religious rightwing, which, while important at that time for fighting the jihad in Afghanistan, could not be allowed to become an uncontrollable political variable. 

The Crying Karachi

In past few days, the heat wave has shattered the lives of the people of Karachi. More than 1300 people died due to severe dehydration, lake of clean water and electricity. People are crying for help in this holy month of Ramadan.

Karachi is the economic hub but in the 25years it has been handed over to gangsters, mafias, corrupt politicians, and money grabbers. 90% of Pakistan exports and imports are received and sent through Karachi but still no government has taken concrete steps to make this city a peaceful place.
  
Apart from local issues, some of the middle eastern countries, India and Iran are also involved in the creating crisis in Karachi for their vested interests. Everybody in the country is deeply in shock about the situation in Karachi.
