Pskistan Tehreek Insaf: A leadership Dilema

Pakistan Tehreek Insaf has emerged the second largest party in Pakistan having voters in all the four provinces. It has given extremely tough time to MQM, PMLN, PPP and other parties in May 11, elections. PTI has formed a coalition government in KPK province and visible presence in the national assemblies. It is their best performance so far in its 17years history.

The absence of decision making system has put the party into extremely dangerous situation. There is high level of unrest inside the party; from top to UC level. The founding member Fouzia Kasuri has resigned who quit US nationality in order to actively participate in the Pakistan electoral process. She has been ignored and refused ticket to contest on general seat. On priority list for NA reserved seats, she has been put at number four. While KP CM, Pervez Khattak has successfully made three very close relatives as MPs and his nephew is contesting by-elections on his vacated NA seat. Asad Qaisr brother is also contesting by-elections on PTI ticket from Swabi national assembly ticket that has been recently vacated by him after opting for PA seat.

PTI corporate decision makers are taking decision purely in corporate style. The untimed and longer process of intra-party elections and delayed and accused ticket award by the parliamentary board  has badly affected the overall performance of the party. The party chairman and the top leaders are talking tirelessly about merit, commitment and accountability, but national level loyal workers like Fouzia Kasuri and Inamullah Niazi grievances are so genuine that tells the inside story of PTI. The founding members like Fouzia Kasuri, Inamullah Niazi, Altaf Qadir, Zafar Khattak, Samad Mursaleem and many more have been ignored and people like Pervez Khattak have got control over it. The corporate style decision makers forget that a political party administration is completely different from the corporate style management. Here every worker has a value. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto has become the most popular leader not only because of his leadership style but his value to workers. From Khyber to Karachi, he has gone and honored a very low level worker and that has made People's Party to win elections even only on his name.

Many analysts compares Imran Khan's politics with that of Asghar Khan, who was a popular opposition leader against the charismatic leader like ZAB. Asghar Khan's Tehreek Istiqlal was failed because of his attitude towards the general worker. We, as a nation never take lessons from the history and personal accountability is always missing in our culture. Imran Khan is also going through the same way what has opted by Asghar khan.

All this will ruin the emergence of third party and will definitely make the two part system stronger which is never a success in our part of the world. If PTI didn't analyse, screen and accountability inside its own circles, it will never be able to do it on national level. So far Imran Khan proved to be a weak leader paralyzed by some people and keeping him away from workers, and he will get the lesson but then there will be no time for lessons.

Mohammad Asad (1900-1992)

Muhammad Asad, born Leopold Weiss; was the first person who has been given the first ever Pakistani passport to any expatriate and has been called by Dr. Muhammad Iqbal to work on the ideological side of the then "would be" born nation. Quid-i-Azam has made him the head of Islamic Reconstruction Bureau but the hypocrites of the time has put fire to his office and all his research work for Islamic foundation of Pakistan has been destroyed. Later on, he has been posted in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; where he worked for the unity of the Muslim world. In the MOFA assignment, all his work has been ruined by the then Qadyani Foreign Minister of Pakistan; Mr. Zaferullah (See his profile on wikipedia), and Mohammad was never allowed to work freely, with a broken and dejected due to the attitude of the Muslim rulers, left the Muslim world for good and settled on the ruins of once the center of great Muslim civilization; Greneda, or Gharnata; Spain. died in 1992 at the age of 92.

I HAD NO ILLUSIONS as to the present state of affairs in the Muslim world. Тhе four years I had spent in those countries had shown me that while Islam was still alive, perceptible in the world-view of its adherents and in their silent admission of its ethical premises, they themselves were like people paralyzed, unable to translate their beliefs into fruitful action.

Nepotism charges arise in PTI’s reserve seats’ nominations by Shamim Shahid

Even though Imran Khan might have claimed that his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) would eradicate the current system of nepotism and corruption, there were serious discrepancies in the nomination of female candidates on reserved seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Taking notice of charges of nepotism in nomination of women candidates, activists of PTI women wing staged a protest demonstration in front of Peshawar Press Club on Saturday, demanding representation for some of the neglected activists.

An examination of the list of PTI leaders elected to National Assembly and KP Assembly reveals that most of them were close associates of KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, KP Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, both from the same party.

Activists said that Nafeesa Khattak who was elected MNA on a PTI ticket is the sister-in-law of Chief Minister Pervez Khattak. Another MNA, Sajida Zulfikar is his niece whereas Mussarat Ahmadzeb is the niece of Nafeesa Khattak. Aisha Gulalai is the fourth PTI MNA nominated from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, even though she represents FATA.

Both Naseem Hayat and Aisha Naeem have been elected to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and are first cousins. Naseem Hayat is also the president of PTI’s provincial women wing. Nadeya Sher, another PTI female MPA, is also from Swabi. In total, three women from Swabi have been nominated for the KP Assembly.

Furthermore, both Nasim Hayat and Aisha Naeem are also first cousins of former provincial minister Sitara Ayaz who was elected on an ANP ticket to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in 2008 general elections. Similarly, they are also close relatives of Meraj Humayoon Khan who has been elected as MPA on a Quami Watan Party ticket. Naseem Hayat, Aisha Naeem and Meraj Humayoon Khan not only belong to a single village in Jhandha area of Swabi district but even are from same family.

Jhandha town of Swabi district is known for producing influential figures and military generals. General (r) Sher Bahdar Khan and General (r) Sher Khan and Colonel (r) Ali Gohar Khan were prominent among the generals hailing from this district. Dr Johar Khatoon, who belongs to the same town, is a leading gynecologist.
Among the PTI female MPAs, Dr Meher Taaj Roghani is considered to be a deserving candidate as she had made valuable contribution to the party. Belonging to Mardan, Meher Taj Roghani had served one of previous provincial caretaker governments. She is likely to become health minister in the new government.

In a similar case, MNA Nafeesa Khattak, Zarin Zia were elected as MPAs, both residing in Rawalpindi. She is the sister of former ANP MPA Yasmeen Zia. Zarin Zian is also believed to be a strong candidate for a ministerial office.

Moreover, Asad Qaisar has got approval for his brother on NA13 Swabi, and the Chairman Imran Khan is completely helpless in the hands of Pervez Khattak and Asad Qaisar. People have serious reservation over the ability of the present KPK government to solve the problems . Yasin Khalil is lobbying for his brother and also a ministerial position for himself. Fauzia Qasuri was ignored for women seats while  Aisha Gulalaye joined PTI ten months ago and elected as MNA on special seats.  Pakistan Tehreek Insaf is the only party in KPK who is completely a family limited party in KPK. First Asad Qaisar and Pervez Khattak were blamed for selling tickets and now they busy in taking huge bribes for awarding ministerial slots.

Poor and Helpless Imran Khan has no control.

PTI- A family Incorporation in the Making in KPK

Pakistan Tehreek Insaf is in the process of becoming family incorporation. CM KPK, Pervez Khattak has laid the foundation of making this great movement as family incorporation by elevating his Sister-in-Law and Niece to the provincial assembly of KPK on special seats. He has also put his brother on his vacated NA 5 seat as candidate. This means clear nepotism as there were so many true women workers who were ignored in the province.

Asad Qaisar has decided to award NA 13 ticket to his brother Abdul waheed who has no political experience and was responsible for running his Swabi based Quid-i-Azam public schools. Moreover injustices are on its peak in the PTI as so many genuine workers were ignored and NA special seat has been given to Aisha Gulalai. On 1st June 2012, she was participant of a news channel as Pervez Musharaf All Pakistan Muslim League leader and in one year time she has reached so quickly has made many eye brows to raise in the presence of 15, 16years old well educated and highly committed workers.

Congratulations to people as their hope has been converted into traditional political party.
